(Smith, 1836—76) — англ. археолог. Результаты своих исследований и раскопок в Ниневии и Месопотамии он изложил в сочинениях "The phonetic values of cuneiform Charakters" (1871), "The chronology of Sennacherib", "Assurhanipal, king of Assyria" (1871), "Notes on the early history of Assyria" (1872), "The Chaldean account of Genesis" (1876, много изд. и перевод.), "The assyrian eponym code" (1875), "Assyrian discoveries" (1875), "Assyria from the earliest times to the fall of Ninive" (1875). После его смерти изданы: "The history of Babylonia" (1877) и "History of Sennacherib" (1878).
