ROWLEY

WILLIAM (1585?-1642?).-Dramatist, was an actor in the Queen's Company 1610. He collaborated with Middleton in _A Fair Quarrel_ and _The Changeling_, and in others with Dekker, Webster, etc., and wrote unassisted _A New Wonder_, _A Match at Midnight_, _A Shoemaker, a Gentleman_, and several others; also a picture of life in London called _A Search for Money_. R. was vigorous and humorous, but his verse lacked sweetness and smoothness.
