(Stoddard, род. 1825) — американский поэт, преимущественно лирик, прославившийся своими романсами. Главные его труды: "Footprints", стихотворения (1849), "Poems" (1850), "Adventures in fairy-land", детские сказки (1853), "Songs of summer" (1857), "Town and country" (1857), "Life, travels and books of Alexander von Humboldt" (1859), "Loves and heroines of the poets" (собрание английских любовных песен, 1860), "The King's bell" (1863), "Under green leaves" (1865), "The children in the wood" (1866), "Putnam, the brave" (1869), "The book of the East, and other poems" (1871), "Memoir of Edgar Allan Poe" (1875), "Anecdote biography of Percy B. Shelley" (1876) и "H. W. Longfellow" (1882). Его "Poetical works" изданы в 1880 г., после чего появились еще "The lion's cub, with other verses" (1890), "Under the evening lamp" (1892) и др.
