WOOLNER

THOMAS (1826-1892).-Sculptor and poet, _b._ at Hadleigh, attained a high reputation as a sculptor. He belonged to the pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and contributed poems to their magazine, the _Germ_. He wrote several vols. of poetry, including _My Beautiful Lady_ (1863), _Pygmalion_, _Silenus_, _Tiresias_, and _Nelly Dale_. He had a true poetic gift, though better known by his portrait busts.
