STANYHURST

RICHARD (1547-1618).-Translator, was at Oxf., and studied law at Furnivall's Inn and Lincoln's Inn. He collaborated with Holinshed (_q.v._). His principal literary achievement was a grotesquely stiff, clumsy, and prosaic translation of the first four books of the _AEneid_ into English hexameters. He also translated some of the Psalms.
